Arbor Day - Tree Planting

Some children from Kauri Team went to help the Hamilton City Council with tree planting at Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park. They helped plant over 30,000 trees.

The "Big Dig In" event even made the news on TV3.
Here is the link to see it if you missed it -

It is great to be able to help in our local community.

Here is the website for Waiwhakareke if you would like to find out more.

Tane Mahuta Day

Room 13 looked after trees on Tane Mahuta Day.
They weeded and tidied up the bank area below their classroom.

Room 5 created these pictures of our Redwood Tree.

Tane Mahuta Day

This morning Room 14 went on a walk around our school.
This photo was taken just outside our classroom.
Here are some things we love about our oak tree
- it gives us shade
- birds live in this tree
- it has rough bark
- it's leaves change colour in autumn

We went down to Putikitiki to see if we could see any fantails.
We waited for a little while and then 3 fantails came to visit us.
One flew so close to us that we held onto sticks to see if they would land on it.
It didn't work this time but we are going to try again.
